Amid continuing cancellations, CES 2022 to be held in-person for the first time in 2 years

CES 2022, the world’s largest technology exhibition organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from January 5 to 8, 2022.

Last year, CES 2021 was held in a virtual format.

From Japan, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will have a Japan pavilion with 52 startups, alongside other exhibitors including the Asahi Kasei Group, Toyota Boshoku, and SkyDrive, a company that develops flying cars.

Due to the spread of the Omicron strain, a number of companies have cancelled their participation completely or will be taking part in the online format. Along those are widely known names such as Amazon, Meta (formerly Facebook), Microsoft, Google, Intel, Twitter, General Motors (GM), etc.

The CTA responded with a statement on December 22, saying, “We have had 42 cancellations which makes less than 7% of the total, while have added 60 new exhibitors.”

More than 2,200 companies are expected to participate in this onsite exhibition, which will be held in line with infection prevention and control guidelines

Eco-Pro 2021 to be held at Tokyo Big Sight East Exhibition Hall

ECOPRO 2021, SDGs Week for Business 2021, and New Value Creation Expo 2021 were held at Tokyo Big Sight from December 8 to 10, 2021. All of them were in the hybrid format.

Under the theme of “Towards a Sustainable Society,” a number of various efforts by corporations, local governments, NPOs, and universities had been introduced in order to address current environmental issues.

SDGs Week EXPO for Business 2021 will feature three business exhibitions: Social Infrastructures Tech 2021, Natural Disaster Countermeasures Biz 2021/Weather Tech 2021, and Carbon Neutral Biz 2021, covering topics of infrastructure maintenance and management, aging, natural disasters, and decarbonization.

In addition, in the frame of the SDGs WEEK EXPO Special Exhibition, a variety of products and services from the following fields: Infectious Disease Control, Contactless / Remote and Sleep were showcased in a special booth as well.

The New Value Creation Expo is a business matching event targeting exhibitors of small and medium-sized enterprises in a wide range of industries, and venture companies from all over Japan, allowing them to network and conduct business negotiations.

Tableware Festival 2022 ~ Vessels that Color Your Life ~

The event will take place at three venues in Tokyo Dome City: Prism Hall, Gallery AaMo and Tokyo Dome Hotel as well as online, for nine days from January 29 to February 6, 2022.

This year’s special features include gorgeous “Quality of Life: Western Tableware” , sophisticated “Satsuma Pottery” with a history of over 400 years, and “Apero Time: Enjoying a Glass” introducing the French way of enjoying a glass of wine before dinner.

In addition, a number of popular events such as stage performances and contests will take place as well. Tokyo Dome Hotel will not only be one of the venues, but will also offer special accommodation plans, lunch courses, and sweets under the umbrella of the Tableware Festival.
Those who can’t attend the in-person event will be nonetheless, able to enjoy the vibrant and informative online version of it.

The admission ticket for the entire duration of the event is 2,000 yen.
The ticket valid only for the last 3 days of the festival is 1,800 yen.
Both tickets give access to the online event as well, which can be viewed until 7pm on January 29th.

Online exhibition covering 5 industries to be held by DMM in February 2022

DMM.com has announced its online exhibition that will run from February 16 to 18, 2022, focusing on five industries: marketing and sales promotion, back office, femtech, outsourcing, and agriculture.

The “2nd Marketing and Sales Promotion Summit” will bring together a wide range of the latest products for marketing and sales promotion, including tools to improve business efficiency.

The “General Affairs, Human Resources, Accounting & Legal Expo Online” will provide information on management systems, IT services for the back office and employee benefits.

The “FemTech Expo Online” is an exhibition focusing on the lifestyle of working women and will present products, applications and services related to the topic.

The “Strategic Outsourcing Expo Online” will feature companies that undertake work in a variety of industries and occupations to meet the challenges of supplementing resources and reducing time and costs while strengthening competitiveness.

The “Agribusiness Expo Online” will introduce various products and services related to “smart agriculture/agri-tech” agriculture, such as sensors and robots, for businesses and farmers who wish to reform the way agriculture has been practiced until now and bring it to the current standards.

SPORTEC 2021

SPORTEC, a comprehensive exhibition for the sports, fitness, and health industry that brings together facilities, equipment, and services related to the topic, took place at the Tokyo Big Sight for three days from December 1 to 3, 2021.

It showcased all kinds of new products and technologies, including the latest fitness programs, apparel, equipment, facilities, diet and beauty products, health foods and nutrition, along with others.

The event was comprised of the following eight specialized exhibitions:

The Health & Fitness Japan – Equipment and services for fitness machine programs and fitness equipment.
The Health & Beauty Show – Wellness equipment, supplies and services.
The Sports Fashion & Goods Expo – Sports apparel, gear and related goods.
The Sports Facilities Expo – Equipment and fixtures for stadiums, arenas and sports facilities.
The Nursing Care Expo – Devices, foods and services for elderly care.
The Sports Event Service Expo – Equipment and services related to attracting visitors and setting up for sports events.
The Sports Nutrition Expo – Sports drinks, foods and supplements.
The Outdoor & Urban Sports Expo – Outdoor & active urban sports equipment & facilities.

In the Sports Performance Pavilion, 10 sessions of seminars were delivered in a hybrid on-site/online format over three days from a studio specially set up in the exhibition hall.

Online seminar to gain momentum for Osaka-Kansai Expo 2022

The Osaka-Kansai Expo Organizing Committee (managed by Innovent) and the Japan Event Association will hold the “2025 Osaka-Kansai Online Seminar” on December 1, 2021.
The event is co-sponsored by the Japan Display Industry Association and supported by the Japan Association of the International Exposition 2025.

In an effort to boost Osaka-Kansai Expo, this seminar will feature detailed explanation of the ongoing Dubai Expo and the “Japan Pavilion” by the Exhibition Producer Takayuki Nagatomo.

Yoshichika Terasawa, the director of the Japan Event Association and chief researcher at the Event Research Institute, will give a lecture on business opportunities for companies at the Expo, and the representative of Innovent will explain the “1st Osaka-Kansai Expo Support Expo” scheduled to be held at INTEX Osaka next March.

The webinar will be delivered via zoom webinar and is free of charge.
The number of participants is limited to 300 pax (on a first-come, first-served basis).

Software company BRAVESOFT to set new standards for the hybrid events

BRAVESOFT the creator of the online event platform Eventos, has started accepting entries for its first hybrid event IBEHAKU DAYS, which is scheduled to be held on December 17, 2021 at JP Tower Hall & Conference in Chiyoda ward, Tokyo.

IBEHAKU DAYS is an evolved version of IBEHAKU (eventech EXPO) which has been in operation since May 2020.

As a part of the economic revitalization program, this event will be held offline, in-person and by the prediction of Bravesoft, this will represent the standards of structure and content of future exhibitions.

Among the speakers are Kohei Takahashi from Smart Camp, Yuko Furuichi from Comexposium Japan and Katsuya Horino representing Alpha Boat.

SEMICON Japan 2021 at the Tokyo Big Sight

From December 15 to 17, the event was held in a hybrid format, simultaneously on-site at the Tokyo Big Sight and online.

SEMICON Japan 2021 Hybrid is an international exhibition on the electronics manufacturing supply chain, covering manufacturing technologies, equipment and materials for the semiconductor industry, as well as SMART applications and IoT devices.

The in-person exhibition consisted of the Front-end Process Zone (East Halls 3, 4, and 5), Back-end Process & Integrated Zone (East Hall 1), and Components & Materials Zone (East Hall 2).

DMM to launch a series of free-of-charge online exhibitions

An announcement about several online exhibitions scheduled from January 26 to 28, 2022 was made by DMM.com on November 16, 2021.

The application period for the representatives of the following fields – EC/D2C, Supermarkets, Home Centers, Original Product Development, Video/CG production, Containers/Packaging, Healthcare, Web/Applications (UI/UX), IT security, and Plant Maintenance – will start on November 16.
Participation is free of charge for all applicants.

The previously announced Anime/Game Summit 2022 will make an addition to the lineup and is scheduled to take place online for 2 days from January 20 to 21, 2022
The event is sponsored by the Visual Industry Promotion Organization (VIPO) and the Japan Online Virtual Event and Exhibition Association (JOVEA)

Nature-themed installations at the Stone – HAKU’s Exhibition

Interactive event Stone – HAKU’s Exhibition will take place for 2 days from November 23 to 24, at the Starts Otakanomori Hall in Chiba Prefecture.

The exhibition is dedicated to the natural environment of the city of Nagareyama, with the sounds and images of rivers and forest projected on the ceiling, walls and floor in 360 degrees.

The highlight of the exhibition is the visual art that transforms depending on the visitor’s movements, allowing to enjoy the ever-changing interactive space.
