New chairman of JATA Mr. Hiromi Tagawa did an interview

On July 2nd, the new chairman of the Japanese Association of Travel Agents (JATA) Mr. Hiromi Tagawa (current president & CEO of JTP Corp.) did an interview detailing new initiatives.

Mr. Tagawa was inaugurated as the new chairman on the regular meeting held on June 18th, and the previous chairman Mr. Jungo Kikuma assumed the position of vice chairman.

Concerning the new organizational structure, Mr. Tagawa said, “There are no big changes in the technicals,” with Mr. Kikuma the vice president in charge of outbound travel, Mr. Kazuaki Maruo the vice president in charge of inbound travel, and Mr. Yoshikawa the vice president in charge of domestic travel. The organization plans to further develop this country into a major power in terms of tourism by continuing initiatives to magnify the social significance of the tourism industry.

Partnership of three organizations by their events

Japan Tourism Promotion Association, The Japan Travel Industry Association and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) concluded a partnership agreement to achieve more aggressive contribution promote a viable development of tourism in the future.

The cause of the partnership of three organizations is the events such as Tourism EXPO JAPAN, VISIT JAPAN Travel Mart and VISIT JAPAN MICE Mart which will be held concurrently.

To expand tourism exchanges in both directions of inbound and outbound and to revitalize local tourism including domestic tourism, they will strengthen ties with local governments, wide area tourism organizations, private sectors and cooperate with each other.
