Brighton Marathon Runners Warm-Up At The Brighton Centre
In the lead up to the 2013 Brighton Marathon, the Brighton Centre is to host the warm-up event that gives runners the opportunity to get key advice from experts ahead of the race. Opening up the venue on the 12th and 13th April 2013, 18,000 runners will be able to collect their race packs in preparation for the big day.
“The Brighton Marathon is a key event for the city as a whole,” said Howard Barden, General Manager for the Brighton Centre. “For many of the local runners, this will be one of the first opportunities they will have to experience the refurbished venue. For other runners traveling to the city, it is the perfect opportunity to showcase what Brighton has to offer.”
In attendance at the Centre, key Brighton Marathon partners, a wide range of specialist running retailers, experts in nutrition, training, and physiotherapy will be on hand to ensure that the Brighton Marathon weekend kicks off with a bang. For those taking part in the Marathon this is the chance to get some last minute tips from the experts and start to take in the excitement that the Marathon brings.
“We are delighted that we are able to collaborate and make use of the Brighton Centre facilities in the lead-up to the race,” said Matt Hudson, organiser of the exhibition. “As a local event with many local participants, the Brighton Centre and its newly revived facilities allow us to keep everything within the city, giving the runners a sense of the enthusiasm and local spirit that this event receives.”
The Brighton Marathon on the 14th of April, spreads 26.2 miles across the unique and diverse city. With the majority of runners running and raising funds for good causes, the Brighton Marathon will help charities raise £5 million. This financial benefit comes alongside the economic benefit to the city estimated to be £4million.
With the race preparations well underway, it has also just been announced that, for the first time ever, the Brighton Marathon is to be televised by Channel 4. This is an incredible opportunity for the city, its runners and its causes, helping to promote and encourage additional support in this and future races. Key sponsors have also been announced as Gatorade for the full marathon, and Shlurp! For the junior, Mini Mile race which takes place over the last mile of the course.

Manchester Central Marches to Success as Exhibitions Thrive
The only way is up for exhibition and event organisers at Manchester Central, after two major shows reported substantial increases in visitor numbers for their March events.
The north of England’s leading events, conference and exhibition venue enjoyed a successful month with returning exhibitions going from strength-to-strength.
This year’s Northern Restaurant & Bar Show (on March 5 & 6) was a resounding success, reporting a 13% rise in visitors and an impressive 60% increase in onsite re-bookings for 2014.
The event attracted 5,700 publicans, bartenders, restaurateurs, hoteliers, chefs and deli owners from across the north of England.
Thom Hetherington, Managing Director at Holden Media Ltd, which organises the NRB Show, said: “Manchester Central is a perfect venue for us as its location and connectivity gives us a perfect catchment across the North, particularly the M62 corridor. Equally important is that our visitors and exhibitors love being in the heart of the city and use it as an opportunity to check out the best of Manchester’s burgeoning food and drink scene.”
Meanwhile the 50+ Show (held on March 1 and 2) – Britain’s biggest show for the active over 50s – said they enjoyed almost a 9% increase in visitor numbers compared to last year’s show.
5319 visitors enjoyed the two-day exhibition, and visitor feedback was extremely positive about using Manchester Central as a venue.
Angie Robinson, Chief Executive at Manchester Central, said “We are delighted to learn that these two shows were so successful, with increased visitor numbers and increased re-bookings and interest for 2014.
“Manchester Central will continue to attract the biggest and best exhibitions and conferences and we work closely with our clients to help ensure success.”
Both events enjoyed Manchester Central’s free Wi-Fi in action. Manchester Central was the first major venue in the country to make free Wi-Fi available to all, including exhibitors. Manchester Central’s new concierge service was also on hand to support visitors, exhibitors and organisers alike.
