Liam Bremer, project manager

Aztec Events Services has welcomed Liam Bremer to the company as a new project manager for events. Liam joined Aztec in early February from his post at Eclipse Presentations where he was responsible for managing the venue partnership with the Park Lane Intercontinental Hotel and servicing its event requirements.

With a strong academic background in audio systems engineering and broad experience in the event industry, Liam’s expertise stretches from the deeply technical aspects of specifying and installing AV systems to the essential people skills required to manage and motivate teams of technicians.

Liam was pleased to be selected for the role, commenting: “Being chosen by Aztec for this post is a significant career move for me, enabling me to develop and establish my skills in project & team management, taking more responsibility and making more impact as well as expanding my technical skills. The working atmosphere here at Aztec is immensely supportive and positive, and its overall ethos of valuing its people and contributing to the community is very much something I want to be a part of.”

Welcoming Liam to the firm, Aztec MD John Robson explained his satisfaction at this new appointment: “When I was first introduced to Liam, I was immediately impressed by his quietly confident manner. In getting to know Liam, it became apparent that he has a superb technical knowledge and a passion for all things audiovisual. Liam’s appointment is a significant one for Aztec and I have no doubt that he will be extremely successful in developing his career with the company.”

The Meetings Show UK confirms DMC/TMC partnerships with SPECTRA and Capita Travel and Events

The Meetings Show UK has announced it is to work with SPECTRA and Capita Travel and Events to deliver its £1 million Hosted Buyer Programme when the inaugural show takes place at Olympia in July.

As well as delivering travel management and destination management services, both organisations have committed to bringing a substantial number of Hosted Buyers to The Meetings Show UK, which will gather together 1,500+ qualified buyers to attend more than 13,500 pre-scheduled meetings.

The Meetings Show UK Event Director, Steve Knight: “To deliver the perfect Hosted Buyer experience we need to work with dedicated professional experts, who understand that each Hosted Buyer is an individual with their own needs and requirements.  As our DMC and TMC providers, SPECTRAand Capita Travel and Events are integral to ensuring our Hosted Buyers receive a five star service.  Both companies have highly respected reputations and we look forward to the benefits their logistical genius will bring to the show.”

SPECTRA has been chosen as the event’s DMC and will use its extensive knowledge to provide a range of high quality networking and hosted buyer events as well as ongoing logistical support throughout the week of the show . The company has an impressive track record in organising prestigious incentive programmes, executive meetings, conferences and events for all sectors of the corporate travel and meetings industry.

Capita Travel and Events will be responsible for managing travel and accommodation arrangements for the Hosted Buyer Programme. The partnership ensures a seamless travel experience as Capita Travel and Events takes on the responsibility for each buyer’s journey from the moment they register to attend.

Paul Miller, Managing Director, SPECTRA, comments: “We are excited to be involved with an event that has generated such interest and will not shy away from the high expectations all delegates and exhibitors will demand of the show. Being involved in new ventures is something SPECTRA is used to, leading the way in creating bespoke events and being the first to introduce new venues and activities to the MICE sector. We look forward to working with the organisers of the show and to joining their team of like minded professionals.

Paul Hussey, Strategic Business Development Manager for Capita Travel and Events, comments: “As one of the first points of contact for Hosted Buyers, we have a great opportunity to give them the very best first impressions of this new event. Our depth and breadth of experience in group travel means that they will benefit from service flexibility, quality, and the security that comes with knowing they are in safe hands.”

Immediate Media Co acquires UK’s largest triathlon show

Immediate Media Co, the leading cross-media specialist interest content company, announces that it has acquired The Triathlon Show, the UK’s premier multisport and endurance exhibition, from TCR Shows Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

The Triathlon Show (formerly known as TCR) was launched in 2002 by M2 Events. The annual three-day event is held at Sandown Park, Surrey, and has just celebrated its 11th successful year in 2013 attracting over 7,000 visitors this past weekend.

Tom Bureau, Immediate Media Co CEO, commented: “I’m delighted to announce this acquisition, the latest investment to enhance Immediate’s growing cross-media portfolio. Live events provide a fantastic opportunity to engage with our customers face to face in our special interest markets and we believe there is great potential to build on the existing, strong relationships we have as leaders in the triathlon market.”

Immediate will now be responsible for the production and management of The Triathlon Show. This year’s event, which took place from 1-3 March 2013, featured over 150 exhibitors, alongside expert-led seminars and workshops, and was attended by beginners, professional and celebrity triathletes.

Andy Healy, Publishing Director of 220 Triathlon magazine and with this acquisition appointed Show Director of The Triathlon Show, added: “Since its launch 24 years ago, 220 Triathlon has been at the forefront of the market, and has played a central part in the lives of triathletes of all levels. Triathlon continues to be one of the world’s fastest growing sports, so I am extremely pleased that we now have a live event to add to our already strong print and digital presence in this extremely important sector.”

David Townsend, Director, TCR Shows Ltd, said: “It’s fitting that Immediate has acquired The Triathlon Show as it was 220 Triathlon magazine’s initial enthusiasm for the event back in 2002 that helped its launch. Since the first show in 2003, the magazine has been an active partner, contributing to the seminar program and running the co-located industry awards. Immediate has a knowledgeable and enthusiastic team who understand the triathlon market so is in a great position to take the show to the next level.”

The Triathlon Show will become the second live event managed by Immediate. The company already owns a majority share in Who Do You Think You Are? Live!, the world’s largest annual family history event, which was successfully held last month at Olympia, London.
