Measure manifestation for aim to the first “ISO20121” acquisition event in domestic

A world triathlon series Yokohama convention organizing committee annouced they are working on to “ISO20121” acquisition in the convention to be held on September 29 and the 30th. If it successed, it will become the first “ISO20121” acquisition event in domestic.

“ISO20121” is what International Standardization Organization (ISO) newly issued as “the International Standard about the sustainability of event management” on June 15. In the world, the London Olympic Games are furthering the plan according to this standard.

For acquisition, setting the aim value, etc., of three elements of “environment”, “sociality”, and “economical efficiency” by itself, and receiving evaluation of an accreditation organization are required.

In the convention organizing committee, they announced following measures will be performed.

(1) The measure for “environment” (estimated by the proposal to an environmental impact, the measure for biodiversity, etc.): Named as “green triathlon” and work for activity of one month before events, such as submarine cleaning of front of Yamashita Park which will be the swim hall in August, and cleaning of the park, etc.

(2) Measure for “society” (Sociality is evaluated by a convention is contributing to the area or society, and holded with obtaining cooperation of the area) : it is considered as the convention in which the player of the top class in the world and many citizens can participate, and will be managed as a convention which can contribute to sport promotion of the area or society.

Furthermore, “sociality” will be advertized by managing with obtaining cooperation of areas, such as a volunteer.

(3) The measure for “economical-efficiency” (Economical efficiency requires healthy management of a convention and an economic ripple effect etc. to the area): Positive support activities have been worked until now for reservation of a convention fund.

Moreover, as a ripple effect to the regional economy, many participants and spectators will visit Yokohama by holding this convention, and great expectation is made as for economy consumption with stay, a meal, etc.

The merit of “ISO20121” acquisition is said by convention organizing committee as, (1) It is expectable to holding the convention with care for environment of earth, (2) It is verifiable of the convention planning and perform by a sustainable way, (3) It is evaluated as a convention which acquired not only domestic but also the International Standard, and the innovation spirit of Yokohama which works for the sporting event can be sent to the world with holding the convention, (4) Improvement of the brand image of the convention can be aimed at, and supposed that approving the convention is regarded also as CSR (corporate social responsibility) activity for a sponsor company.

The object of examination is the organization engaged in the event of “world triathlon series Yokohama 2012 Convention”, and organization member meeting and a related organization, and SGS Japan, Inc. which is a certificate authority of the world’s largest class serves as a certificate authority.

The examination by a certificate authority is two steps. It will be checked from July to August as the first-step examination, if the structure of the convention management met standard requirements.

It will be examined in September including the convention day as the second-step if the structure exmined in the first-step being performed effectively.
If it was attested by the examination, an examination registration certificate (certificate of attestation) will be delivered from a certificate authority after the end of the convention.

Japan PCO association holded an annual meeting, special seminar, and opinion session in TSP-Taiyo Inc., conference room.

Hirotake Chikanami, the chairman, stated “In IMEX which was held in Frankfurt, even Greece which has fallen in to the financial crisis also exhibited by a large booth. That was impressive they worked for increasing of national power by promoting MICE. Japan should unite and promote MICE same as them. Let’s realize the revival of Japan by MICE uniting Japan PCO association with related organization etc.”
In the special seminar, Keiichi Ito of TSP gave a lecture with subject of “[Management of holding and safety] which is changing with the time.

Mr. Ito explains event management and the thing required by the changes from the 1970s. About the safety control which came to be thought as important with changing the time, while advance preparations, such as prior mobilization calculation, flow planning, etc., are important, he explained that corresponding the plan according to the actual condition is important during event enforcement. Moreover, as a point corresponding to the disaster which became clear in correspondence of the Great East Japan Earthquake, a manual, power of execution, and also a risk hedge and the capability to improve were stated. And the lecture was ended with stating that management and a safety control lead to the improvement in brand of the sponsor which is the purpose of an event.
