AnimeJapan 2027 & 2028 to be Held in Osaka After 13 Years in Tokyo

On March 28, 2026, AnimeJapan, the world’s largest anime exhibition, announced that it will be relocating from Tokyo to Osaka for its 2027 and 2028 editions. This marks the first time the event will be held in Osaka, signifying a major shift from its 13-year run in Tokyo.

According to the announcement, the general public days for AnimeJapan 2027 will be March 27 and 28 at Intex Osaka, and the business days are scheduled for March 29 and 30. The event will also be supported by the Osaka Convention & Tourism Bureau.

The AnimeJapan organizing committee views Osaka, which drew over 20 million visitors from around the world for Expo 2025 Osaka, as a new hub for outreach, and it aims to bring a sense of “surprise” and “discovery” to all visitors, even those from Western Japan. As such, the 21 companies and 1 organization that comprise the committee have made clear their intention to use AnimeJapan’s move to Osaka as an opportunity to expand the scope of the anime industry as a whole.
