On March 24, the Comic Market organizing committee announced that the 109th edition of the doujinshi convention Comic Market (Comiket 109) will be held over a period of 3 days, from December 29 to 31, 2026, at the Tokyo Big Sight. The schedule and event details have been posted on the official website.
The event will run from Tuesday, December 29 through Thursday, December 31, 2026. Monday, December 28 will be the circle setup day, and the exhibition is expected to fill the entirety of the Big Sight complex. However, East Halls 4, 5 and 6 will be unavailable due to renovation work. The application period for circle participation is planned to open in August 2026.
The Comiket organizing committee explained that the decision to increase the event period to 3 days was based on the increasing number of circle applications and the ongoing restrictions on hall usage due to the Big Sight renovations. They elaborated that Comiket 107 in winter 2025 had received the most circle applications since the Covid-19 pandemic, and this trend of increasing applications continues for Comiket 108, which will be held this summer.
Comiket 109 will be the first time since Comiket 97 in 2019 that the winter event will be longer than 2 days. The organizing committee views this 3-day period as an extension of the usual event.
Moving forward, the committee has decided to reassess the status of future Comikets depending on the progress of the Big Sight renovations and trends in the number of circle applications.
