{"id":10691,"date":"2013-05-28T20:50:07","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T11:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.exhibitionindustrynews.co.uk\/?p=2892"},"modified":"2013-05-28T20:50:07","modified_gmt":"2013-05-28T11:50:07","slug":"hbaa-chairmans-charity-hosts-first-event-of-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eventbiz.net\/english\/?p=10691","title":{"rendered":"HBAA Chairman\u2019s Charity hosts first event of 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exhibitionindustrynews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/West-End-Eurovision-16.jpg\" rel=\"lightbox[2892]\" title=\"HBAA Chairman\u2019s Charity hosts first event of 2013\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2893\" alt=\"West End Eurovision 16 300x240 HBAA Chairman\u2019s Charity hosts first event of 2013 Exhibition News\" src=\"http:\/\/www.exhibitionindustrynews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/West-End-Eurovision-16-300x240.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" title=\"HBAA Chairman\u2019s Charity hosts first event of 2013Exhibition News\" \/><\/a><strong>This year\u2019s HBAA Chairman\u2019s Charity, the Make A Difference Trust, hosted its first fundraising event of 2013, the sixth annual West End Eurovision contest, at the Dominion Theatre last week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HBAA members camped out late into the night to back 2013 Chairman Chris Parnham\u2019s chosen charity, which brings together the British entertainment industry and its audiences to support those living with HIV and AIDS or facing hardship as a result of another long-term medical condition.<\/p>\n<p>The late night show commenced at 11.30pm, once the curtain closed on the stages of London\u2019s West End, and paid tribute to the Eurovision Song Contest. 10 West End shows including <i>Phantom of the Opera, Rock of Ages, We Will Rock You<\/i> and <i>Mamma Mia<\/i> were pitched against each other, singing past Eurovision songs to win the votes of the audience, the competing entries\u2019 judging panels and a host of celebrity judges. It was new Irish musical <i>Once<\/i> who won the coveted trophy with their adaptation of Dana&#8217;s\u00a0<i>All Kinds of Everything<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>2013\u2019s contest was judged by a star-studded panel which featured <i>X Factor\u2019s<\/i> Rylan, Lisa Riley of <i>Emmerdale<\/i> and <i>Strictly Come Dancing<\/i>, astrologer to the stars Russell Grant and <i>I\u2019d do Anything <\/i>winner Jodie Prenger.\u00a0\u00a0Gok Wan, Sinitta, Ben Richards and Christopher Biggins were guest presenters on the night, which included performances by former Eurovision winners Katrina and the Waves.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Parnham, Chairman of the HBAA, said: \u201cThe MAD Trust is a terrific charity, and the event was a huge success.
