{"id":12714,"date":"2013-10-31T17:53:37","date_gmt":"2013-10-31T08:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.exhibitionindustrynews.co.uk\/?p=4162"},"modified":"2013-10-31T17:53:37","modified_gmt":"2013-10-31T08:53:37","slug":"nec-looking-to-increase-conference-live-event-offering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eventbiz.net\/english\/?p=12714","title":{"rendered":"NEC Looking to Increase Conference &amp; Live Event Offering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For a facility known primarily for its vast exhibition capacity, it may come as a surprise to some that the NEC hosts over 400 conferences per year.\u00a0 The key transport links that make the venue such an attractive prospect for exhibitions also serve to offer conference organisers unique scope for their events.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.exhibitionindustrynews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/NEC.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4164\" alt=\"NEC\" src=\"http:\/\/www.exhibitionindustrynews.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/NEC-300x186.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a>The NEC\u2019s Venue Sales Director Stephen Richards said that whilst the conferencing facilities are well used, the NEC team has been working hard to develop this side of the business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn many respects it\u2019s still our best kept secret\u201d, said Stephen.\u00a0 \u201cThere is a perception that we are purely an exhibition venue, but we have 34 different size conference rooms that are regularly is use.\u00a0 We have facilities for smaller business meetings, whilst our biggest suite can accommodate up to 750 people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the last year or the NEC has adjusted the way it promotes and manages what it terms the conference &amp; live events side of things.\u00a0 Adrian Evans joined as Account Director to specifically develop the conferences that are held there and when it comes to this side of the business, The NEC is also looking to work in tandem with Birmingham\u2019s ICC, a venue that is part of the same group but one that has historically worked on a more autonomous level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is definitely scope to increase the amount of conferences that we host\u201d, said Stephen.\u00a0 \u201cWe have some of the best facilities for them in country, and we\u2019re confident that our offering is a match for any other conference venue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[ad]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For a facility known primarily for its vast exhibition capacity, it may come as a surprise to some that the NEC hosts over 400 conferences per year.\u00a0 The key transport links that make the venue such an attractive prospect for exhibitions also serve to offer conference organisers unique scope for their events.
